PsiNaptic's JMatos SDK, Implementing Jini Network Technology For Embedded Processors, Now Available on Linux Platform
CALGARY, ALBERTA - PsiNaptic Inc., the leading developer of software implementing Jini network technology for embedded processors today announced the availability of its JMatos software on a Linux platform.
PsiNaptic is the first company to make stand alone Jini technology available for any deeply embedded processor with a JavaVirtual Machine (JVM). With a memory footprint of less than 100 kilobytes, JMatos software enables Jini technology to be deployed on resource-constrained devices such as mobile information devices, automobile subsystems, medical monitoring equipment, and home/industrial automation equipment.
PsiNaptic's decision to add Linux to its current platform offerings comes as a result of strong growth forecasts for Linux in the embedded market, driven by the growth of the Internet and the increasing need for ubiquity of embedded computing systems. "The availability of JMatos software on a Linux platform is another important milestone for PsiNaptic", says Cameron Roe, Vice-President and Chief Software Architect, PsiNaptic.
Adding JMatos technology to these devices will enable them to dynamically exchange information and services where and when needed, without worrying about how the underlying hardware or software is configured and managed. It is this need for impromptu networking, devoid of human intervention, that will be so compelling to device manufacturers as it will simplify the users experience and impact the adoption of these devices."
PsiNaptic currently offers JMatos on J2ME/CLDC, Windows 98, ME, Java 1.1.8-1.3, PJava and Dallas Semiconductor TINI 1.02 platforms.
A JMatos software development kit for Linux is currently available for download at www.psinaptic.com
