PsiNaptic Joins Sun Licensee Program
Calgary, AB - PsiNaptic Inc., a leader in embedded Java solutions in the wireless marketplace, today announced the company has signed a license agreement with Sun Microsystems (NASDAQ: SUNW) for use of Sun's Jini technology. The use of Jini is core to PsiNaptic's vision of wireless communication with "anything, anytime and anywhere."
Jini allows networked devices to transparently discover and exchange information with other communications-capable devices thereby forming communities of participating devices. These devices can be hardware, software or a combination of both. Jini brings the vision of ubiquitous computing a major step closer to reality.
PsiNaptic Inc., formed in January 2000, joins other Jini licensees such as Ericsson, Nokia, Quantum, Seagate, Canon, Xerox, Epson and Cisco among others, in pushing the envelope of transparent distributed computing.
"Deeply embedded devices, enabled by wireless networking technologies such as Bluetooth or Home RF, enable us to imagine a fundamentally different world. Even five years ago, we could not imagine we would be so close to such a transparent, and ubiquitous computing environment," says PsiNaptic President and co-founder, Aaron Dagan.
